Day 1: Goddess Shailputri Mata

Maa Shailputri is considered to be the first form of Maa Durga or Mata Parvati and is worshiped on the 1st day of Navratri. This form represents the childhood stage of Mata Parvati that’s why she is worshiped on the 1st Navratri. She is the daughter of Parvat Raj, Lord Himavan, and Queen Menavati. Meaning of Name: The meaning of her name is “Putri” – The Daughter of “Shail” – The Mountain. She is a Virgo avatar who makes her family, and her parents happy, joyful, and proud of her.

According to old scriptures like Shiva Purana and Devi-Bhagavatam Purana, Mata Parvati was born as the daughter of King Daksha in her previous life. Kalaratri or Kaalratri is the seventh form of the nine forms of the Navadurga or Maa Durga also known as Kaali or Kali Maa. hence she is worshiped on the seventh day of Navratri. Kaalratri is also known as Shubankari due to the belief that she always provides auspicious results to her devotees.

Navratri Day 8 Mahagauri Mata

Goddess Mahagauri is the eighth incarnation of Maa Durga, who is worshipped on the eighth day of Navaratri. This day of Navratri is also famous as Durga Ashtami. Durga Ashtami Has a Significance part of Durga puja in Bengali Culture.

According to the ancient text, Goddess Mahagauri has the power to fulfill all the desires of her devotees. The one who worships the goddess gets relief from all the suffering in life.

Meaning of Name: The meaning of the name Mahagauri is (Maha = more, great and Gauri = bright, clean) That means extremely bright, clear complexion, shone like the moon.

Goddess Mahagauri is depicted with four arms. She holds Abhaya Mudra in his upper right hand and Trident (Trishul) in his lower right hand. There is a tambourine (Damru) in the upper left hand and Var-mudra (giving blessing pose) in the lower left hand. She rides a white bull (Taurus), usually shown dressed in white.

Navratri Day 9 Siddhidhatri Mata

Goddess Siddhidatri is the ninth form of Maa Durga. Hence she is worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri (nine divine nights of Navdurga). She fulfills all the divine aspirations of her devotees. Maa Siddhidhatri possesses eight supernatural powers, or siddhis, which are called Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakambya, Ishitva, and Vashitva.

Meaning of Name: The name of Goddess Siddhidatri is as follows: Siddhi means supernatural power or ability to meditate, and Dhatri means giver of honor.

It is believed that a part of Lord Shiva’s body belongs to Goddess Siddhidatri. Hence he is also known as Ardhanarishvara. According to Vedic scriptures, Lord Shiva had attained all the siddhis by worshiping this goddess.

Goddess Siddhidatri is the original form of Mother Parvati. She has four hands that hold a chakra, conch shell, mace, and lotus respectively. He is seated on a lotus in full bloom or a lion.
